Imagine exploring and understanding the ocean’s mysteries without ever leaving your desk. What if this is already a reality and the underwater world could be brought to your fingertips? In his talk, Dr. Garabet Kazanjian talks about the concept of Digital Twin of Oceans and discusses how it can empower individuals, businesses, and governments to make informed decisions, protect our ecosystems, and ensure a sustainable future for our oceans. Dr. Garabet Kazanjian is an assistant professor at the American University of Armenia (AUA) and a researcher at the AUA Acopian Center for the Environment. He holds an MSc in marine ecology and a Ph.D. in limnology from the Humboldt University of Berlin. With extensive experience in interdisciplinary aquatic research, Dr. Kazanjian previously worked at the Leibniz Institute for Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries and the Netherlands Institute of Ecology. He has also been involved in environmental advocacy as a Greenpeace Oceans Campaigner. Currently, Dr. Kazanjian leads several European Horizon projects at AUA and focuses on studying ways to ensure the sustainability of Lake Sevan in Armenia.
