Linus Torvalds - the creator of the Linux kernel - shared on the linux kernel mailing list that he assembles guitar pedals as a hobby[1] and offered to make some for willing kernel developers. I was one of the lucky five[2] and got a bass drive - a clone of the Darkglass Microtubes B3K. Here are some samples of how it sounds. The setup is a cheap, 37 inch fanned fret bass with active pickups straight into the pedal and then into the audio interface. No EQ on the guitar, no plugins used.
