Residents of Barnegat, New Jersey truly believe that an old abandoned school in their town, which has been closed for a decade, is haunted by ghosts. The Elizabeth V. Edwards School, formerly Barnegat High School, was built in the 1930's and was active until about 2003, when it closed its doors for good. Locals say that is when all the spookiness began. Bill Cox is the transportation and security coordinator for Barnegat Schools and a former NYPD Detective. As someone who claims to not be easily spooked, Cox said that some of the things that have happened in the school are not normal. “The buildings been here a hundred years and it hasn't been used in ten years. And I've been in this building a couple of hundred times,” he said.
