This video explains how to prepare children for the Year 1 phonics screening test. Can children sound out the real and alien words? The test comprises of 40 words which children need to use their phonics to decode the real and alien words. These start as simple CVC words and gets progressively more challenging including multi syllabic words using Set 2 and Set 3 sounds.
