The threat of domestic terrorism in the U.S. remains high, according to assessments by the Department of Homeland Security. And after the shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington D.C., the bombing of an in-vitro fertilization clinic in Palm Springs, California, and attacks targeting Tesla dealerships and cars nationwide, a renewed focus is on the term. PBS News’ Courtney Norris spoke to Bruce Hoffman, a Senior Fellow for Counterterrorism and Homeland Security at the Council on Foreign Relations and Co-Author of “God, Guns and Sedition: Far-Right Terrorism in America," and Hina Shamsi, Director of the ACLU’s National Security Project, to break down how the U.S. handles domestic terrorism, and whether the risks around a national law outweigh the benefits.
