David Penn Combines The Powers Of Darkness, With The Blaney Ladder Levitation At The Magic Circle

It has always been my dream to own and perform the incredible illusion created by Walter Blaney. Presenting it on the stage of the world’s most prestigious magic society, The Magic Circle, in a private show for my fellow members, made it even more special. Instead of following a typical routine structure, I combined the illusion with a classic mentalism effect known as the Powers of Darkness, aiming to create a levitation that happens only in the minds of the spectators.... I love imagining quizzical on-stage volunteers questioning audience members after the show, with the audience trying to convince them that the person on stage truly levitated. My goal with this routine is to create a magical moment that extends beyond the performance, as spectators and audience members discuss their experiences, never quite sure if the other is sharing the truth or keeping magical secrets like a magician. This isn’t my usual style of performance, but I’m currently developing a gala show spot specifically for magicians to enjoy after attending a lecture earlier in the day at a conference. I receive requests for this type of performance frequently, so I’ve decided to finally work on it. I hope you enjoy last nights performance as much as I did.
