When I was envisioning a tiny camper that would best fit my needs, a teardrop or squaredrop fit a lot of them. However the big disadvantage with one is that you can’t stand up. Anyway, it was from the teardrops that I stole the design of this door from. You can purchase a pre-built teardrop door, but I thought I could make it for less. After having done it, if you add up the cost of the lock (which i already owned) and the materials for the door, you might get close to a pre built door. It would certainly be faster to buy a pre-built door. One benefit of building it was I was able to incorporate the color of the trailer into the door. In this video I walk through the whole build, from cutting the opening in the side of the 5x8 cargo trailer to welding in a new frame, building a door and hanging it, and finally sealing it all up from the weather.
