The stronghold of Republicanism in West Belfast, it was at the at the epicentre of The Troubles, a 30 year long conflict in the north of Ireland which saw Belfast become the European Capital of Terrorism, with paramilitary attacks becoming a fact of daily life for decades. The war is over but the segregation still remains.
