This track was written in 1979 from all the proof available. This recording is from March 30, 1979. Earlier drafts may exist, possibly even as far back as 1976. Just one partial lyric sheet was made public in the documentary The Ties That Bind, but just a few verses can be visible for a split second during a montage. The studio logs show that the song was recorded on June 14, 1979 at Power Station, during The River sessions. If it was completed or considered for the album is still unknown. Under The Gun is among 25 songs compiled for a 1993 project that never came to fruition. This project would later become Tracks and many of those 25 still remain unreleased and unknown. This particular recording has been available to collectors since the early 90s from the Lost Masters collection. Nobody knew about the existance of this recording before that.This recording was lightly remixed, so it's cleaner and the vocals are more defined, so some lyrics are audible.
