The best time to clean a greasy water pipe is having it cleaned immediately after use when the resin is still soft, and you only have to deal with a thin buildup. Silicone is completely dishwasher safe. You can put the whole Waxmaid Traveler mouthpiece in your dishwasher. Boiling the Waxmaid Traveler mouthpiece is no problem and won't damage or harm the material, then brush it with dish soap after boiling, scrub to get resin out of your water pipe. We don't recommend use alcohol to clean the Waxmaid Traveler mouthpiece as alcohol may be harsh on the silicone over time. I tried the mouthpiece to a large alkaline 1-liter water bottle, and it worked really well. The bottle held up when clearing the water bottle; you had to leave a large portion of your water in the water bottle for the stem to reach, and if you weren't smoking that much and if it's clean, you might still be able to drink the remaining water but if you smoke like I do the water doesn't taste so good. I tried the Wine Cooler glass bottle at it was great; it held the mouthpiece the best when just sitting on the rock next to me neither water bottle held it as well; however, the glass bottle isn't something you want to take on a camping trip, the lake, or even just hiking because the probability of breaking it especially if you are me is about 95% guaranteed. The Dasani water bottle didn't hold the mouthpiece well at all, as well as clearing the water bottle proved to be troublesome; every time I cleared the water bottle, it sucked in, and I almost dropped it a few times. Overall I really like The Traveler.  It's quick and simple to put together; it's compact for easy carrying, it's a great conversation piece, and difficult to break, which I love because I've definitely broken my fair share of glass pieces.  I can see this mouthpiece and the Waxmaid Dugout, being how social gatherings like The Cannabis Cup or the Erl Cup will encourage patrons to bring with them to encourage better health habits.
