A good surface cleaner can make or break the speed at which you can complete cleaning concrete jobs for pressure washing. I recently just got a sweet deal on buying a 48" whisper washer pressure washer and is nothing short of a monster. I think whisper washer is one of the best brands for when looking to buy a surface cleaner no matter the size. They are very durable and higher quality that will last a long time. They aren't the cheapest on the market but a good surface cleaner should be a worth while investment that you should make as it typically will pay itself back in a matter of a few jobs. Rule of thumb for surface cleaners: Every 1gallon per minute your machine is 4 inches of surface cleaner. Example 4gpm machine (min you should be using) = 16" surface cleaner You can use a large size surface cleaner though you will have to walk much slower for it to clean and run higher chance of leaving clean lines which can be reduced with a post treatment of 3-5% SH mix if so. It can vary greatly depending your goal of PSI you want to put down on the concrete. Things to take in consideration when deciding is knowing how many nozzles your surface cleaner has. Typically for newer concrete poured within last 2 years I will either soft wash it only with chemical solutions or only using 1000psi max. For dirty old concrete I typically stay right around 2500psi. Lets give you an example with the chart link above what tips you would want. 4gpm machine, 2 nozzles, trying to achieve a 2500 psi. I see following the chart I would want a size 5 tip but you divide that number by how many nozzles you have on surface cleaner of 2. So I want a 2.5 tip on my 4gpm machine to get to putting out 2,500psi. So the tip would read 25025 or 40025.. The first part of the tip (25) is the spray angle and the last numbers is the tip orifice size. I like to use either a 25 or 40 spray angle pattern on my surface cleaning tips. If you start getting clean lines after cleaning and your using the proper sized surface cleaner then typically it means your either walking too fast or the tips get clogged easily. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ The links below are just a few of the main items I use on my trailer.
