The Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University held the 2018 Fall conference entitled “Jean Beaman’s Citizen Outsider: A Conference Exploring the Historical and Contemporary Landscape of Immigration, Race and Culture at the Borders of the World.” The convening will include multiple faculty and student panel discussions concerning racism, immigration policies, and citizenship in a global environment where so much attention is being paid to citizenship, marginalization, and one’s “documentation” status.
