In the theatrical version of this scene, Eddie has allegedly managed to kick the brain-enhancing drug in the theatrical version, though we're never sure if he's grandstanding. Cooper goes full-on superhero on Robert De Niro after he threatens Cooper's new political career, telling him to F*** off because he doesn't need the luxury drug. However, things are less cheery in the alternative. Eddie is still on NZT in this ending, and his stash isn't going to last forever, making Carl's possession of the supply a lot more dangerous in the future. Eddie tells himself at the end of the episode that he needs to get off the drug.
