This film tells the story of a box. It has conquered the world and changed factories, department stores, ships, ports and cities. It has transformed entire countries. About one hundred million of these boxes are constantly circling the globe. The world has become dependent upon the box. And the box in return has changed the world. A farmer's son from North Carolina, named Malcolm McClean, made the dream of his life come true and became the father of containerization by building a door to door service over sea and land. He named his company accordingly. In May 1966 he started globalization, as we know it today, with the arrival of the box in Rotterdam. One year after the first call Sea-Land handled 6000 boxes to and from Rotterdam. In 2007 it is expected that the total port will handle 10 million TEUs.
