Why the GreatSchools Rating on Zillow is Problematic As a former educator for over two decades and a current real estate agent, I have a unique perspective on helping clients with their home search when they are moving to a new area and school quality is a top priority. While the single digit school rating that is included with each property listed for sale on Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, and Compass can be a starting point, it is often an inaccurate reflection of school quality. The GreatSchools rating system (and other systems - Niche, SchoolDigger, etc.) are based almost entirely on state standardized test scores. Be sure to check out the video for a better alternative. As a former public school administrator in the area, I can offer detailed information about school districts throughout the region. I work with all types of budgets (low to high) and all types of buyers (first-time, FHA, cash, retired, investors, up-sizers, veterans, etc).
