It was released as a B-side on retail singles for "Hash Pipe" and "Island in the Sun." "Teenage Victory Song" was demoed by Rivers Cuomo and as a band at Cuomo's garage studioin Los Angeles in 2000. The song is known to have been attempted twice at Cello Studiosduring recording of The Green Album. "Teenage Victory Song" was released as a B-sideto the UK "Hash Pipe" retail vinyl single, and the Japanese "Island in the Sun" CD single. Some fans missed an opportunity to contribute vocals during the mixing of this track at South Beach Studios: Rivers was working on multiple aspects of "Teenage Victory Song", doing various guitar and vocal overdubs and fixes, and he determined that some good "gang vocals" were needed. We had Mikey, myself, and Carlos the engineer on hand, but Rivers was really hoping for a true gang, and went outside looking for some fans! There was a small group out front earlier in the day, but unfortunately the area was deserted by the time Rivers went a-hunting for guest vocalists. Fortunately we were able to make do with the "gang" already on hand, and the part turned out fine. —Karl Koch, weezer.com update, February 5, 2001 "Teenage Victory Song" was among fourteen unmastered Green Album tracks leaked online in early 2001. A demo of "Teenage Victory Song" was released as part of the compilation Alone VII: The Green Years in 2020.
