Chapters: 0:00 My First PhD Semester — I Really Made It Through 0:21 Fewer Classes… Does That Mean It’s Easier? 0:57 Seminars Look Similar, But Feel Totally Different 2:32 Advisor or Research Partner? 4:10 The Struggles and Joys of PhD Life 4:58 My Expectations for Myself | Final Thoughts Hi everyone, I’m Victoria! 👋 Time flies—my first semester of the PhD program has already come to an end. Taking advantage of the winter break, I wanted to sit down and share my journey with you all. Many people ask: "Is a PhD that different if you’ve already done a Master's?" Honestly, the difference is even bigger than I imagined! In this video, I’ll break down the differences between PhD, Master’s, and Undergraduate studies across three aspects: "Coursework," "Seminars," and "Experimental Research." In this video, I also share: ❓ Why are there fewer classes in a PhD, yet the pressure is much higher? ❓ How did I survive "All-English Presentations," which used to be my biggest weakness? ❓ The famous "Hunting Rabbits Theory": Why are PhD professors more like "research partners"? At the end of the video, I recorded a small episode—my late-night thoughts after a failed experiment. Although the life of a PhD student is full of trial, error, and loneliness, being accepted in the halls of academia as my most authentic and beautiful self makes all the hard work worth it. I hope my sharing can give some strength to sisters and friends who are considering further studies or are also struggling in academia. One day in the future, I hope to say with confidence: "I am Dr. Victoria!" ✨
