During the process of representing each element with a distinguishable profile through aural accentuation of their core characteristics, Gunnarsson was mostly concerned with reduction for the sake of clarity and lucidity. Not a single note, not even a rest in the score is superfluous. The composer has freed the five short pieces of all ballast and invites the listeners to follow suit. Their purity, immaculateness and almost natural cleansing effect trigger meditation like experiences of relief, relaxation and deceleration. The focus is on what really counts – which is essence.
