#KharchaPani Show, Episode no. 1166 | 05 September 2025 In today’s show, we are discussing following news: ------------------------- In today’s show, we are discussing following news: -Food delivery majors Zomato and Swiggy now face an additional goods and services tax burden , after the GST Council clarified that online marketplaces must pay 18% tax on behalf of delivery workers who were previously outside the ambit of GST. -To offset this liability, Zomato and Swiggy may plan to increase platform or delivery fees -Platforms may reduce delivery partner incentives or introduce a service fee, indirectly affecting delivery quality or availability. This could lead to fewer available riders during peak hours, increasing wait times for customers. -Bringing hotel rooms priced under Rs 7,500 a night into the 5 per cent slab (without input tax credit benefits) will further provide impetus to travel, helping the country’s tourism and hospitality sector, say industry executives. The GST Council approved a two-slab structure, removing the 12 per cent and 28 per cent slabs.
