Video Taken on 4.6.22 of the Ritgrund lighthouse and mooring place in the Kvarken Archipelago on the west coast of Finand in the shores of the Baltic Sea. Located in the Gulf of Bothnia off the coast of Vaasa, the Kvarken Archipelago is the first Natural Heritage site in Finland, having been included on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 2006. In conjunction with the High Coast of Sweden (also on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites), this area is unique in that the land is rising at the rate of 8-9mm per annum. The geological complex formed featuring this intensive land lift is constantly altering the shape and nature of the area. New islands gradually appear and unite, peninsulas expand, and bays become lakes which themselves develop into marshes and fens. It has been estimated that approximately 300 hectares of new land appears on the Swedish-speaking coast of Ostrobothnia annually. As a result of these endless environmental changes in the low-lying Kvarken, the fauna and flora present are constantly adapting to the continuous and rapid process of change all around them. (discoveringfinland.com) Ritgrund is an islet northeast of Raippaluoto in the Kvarken Archipielago. An important inland waterway from the Gulf of Bothnia to the Bothnian Sea begins there . The area has already been inhabited by pilots and fishermen during the Swedish rule. In 1863, the pilotage institute built a wooden lighthouse on the islet , which was made hexagonal without intermediate platforms. A separate pilot cabin was built for the pilots in 1871, It still exists. In 1945, Ritgrund was converted into a lighthouse . Pilotage ceased at Ritgrund's islet in 1983, when it moved to Raippaluoto . The Ostrobothnian Maritime District renovated the Ritgrund lighthouse in 1993, when its structures were strengthened and the exterior boarding was renovated and painted with red soil . Ritgrund is currently the only sea lighthouse made of pook in Finland. It is also the only wooden lighthouse in Finland. The lighthouse is currently powered by solar energy . The island also has a stone pier and a breakwater built for the pilot station. The inner harbor has a depth of 2 meters making it suitable for small to medium sailboats. The area vas visited on June 2022 with an Albin Vega (draft 1.3m) and it was possible to moor starboard to pier. Mooring with aft anchor and bow to pier is also possible and more recommended for bigger vessels. The island have a grill kiosk and a sauna (only accesible for members of Petsmo boat club). more info in solrutten ( https://solrutten.fi/hamnar/korsholm/... ) Song: Everen Maxwell - A Day at Sea [NCS Release] Sound Effects: freesound.org Camera: DJI Mavic Air 2
