Hi everbody. Welcome back to another Musical Mondays! So I had a rough week last week. I really don’t like my job thus far, and in fact, ended up breaking down at my desk and left early on Friday because I couldn’t stop crying. I’m still trying to sort out how to be the most authentic version of myself while working at a technology sales company, where my boss wears Trump National Golf shirts, and somebody else has a Trump 2020 decal on her window. I’m realizing (more every day bb) that I’ve been incredibly privileged, and have never felt the need to be in the closet until now, and I hate it. Trying to strategize and figure out how to make my job more sustainably bearable for the time being. In the meantime! Here’s a socialist anthem. Shout out to Michael Punter for introducing me and my BFA company to this song while studying in London. Hope everyone is doing alright, thanks for watching, always. I’m still donating to black-led organizations, and so should you! No matter what, read and research and educate yourself on how to be anti-racist. Have hard discussions with your family and friends about policing and capitalism. End the silence, and instead of just stewing in your white guilt: DO SOMETHING! I love you all. Black Lives Matter. Anyway, enjoy. The Internationale is a left-wing anthem that has been a standard of the socialist movement since the late nineteenth century, when the Second International adopted it as it’s national anthem. Billy Bragg composed a new set of lyrics (which are the ones I sang), and the recording was released on his album The Internationale, along with rewordings of other socialist songs.
