The Gue mummy is estimated to be approximately 550 years old. It is believed to be the mummy of a Buddhist monk named Sangha Tenzin, who died in the 15th or 16th century. The mummy is naturally preserved and is housed in a small glass chamber at Gue Monastery in Spiti Valley, India. It is said that our history lies in our traditional songs and the name of mummy was identified through an ancient songs by villagers . The mummy's age was determined through carbon dating, which indicated it was from around 1475. It was discovered after an earthquake in 1975 exposed the tomb. The mummy is notable for its well-preserved state, including visible teeth and the fact that it is not embalmed. Gue is a village in the Lahul & Spiti district of the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. It is claimed by China as part of Zanda County in Ngari Prefecture and Tibet Autonomous Region. The village is about 40 km from the Tabo Monastery, at latitude 31.11 and longitude 77.16. The village is 10,000 feet above sea level and 500 km away from the state capital, between the towns of Sumdo and Tabo. Gues village and its people are beautiful.
