She was born in a small village called Udasar in the Nayak community and became one of the most significant woman figures of the Sant tradition in Rajasthan. Details about her life have been pieced together from reminiscences of her family members. Sohini Devi's marriage was arranged at a young age but she had a strong devotional calling from her childhood. Deeply influenced by the legend of Meera Bai herself, Sohni Devi left her house, husband, family and relatives at the age of 25 and started playing the tambura and singing Meera bhajans while wandering from village to village. The strength of her commitment to this path led to both her natal and marital families to give her their full support. Later she was inspired by other Bhakti poets such as Kabir and Baba Ramdev. Her captivating voice resonant with a powerful quality of viraha soon found thousands of fans among the masses. She became A Grade singer in All India Radio. The five editions, in 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 were widely chronicled and appreciated.
