Most all of us are aware of the ongoing situation in Ukraine. We’re watching it from the safety of our homes and the comfort of our couches or reading about it on our smartphones. A terrible scene is playing out in front of our eyes. And, if you’re like me, you feel an urgency to respond … How can I help? The answer is two-fold. Our church’s relief organization, Adventist Development and Relief Agency—ADRA—is already well underway helping the people of Ukraine, many of whom who are now refugees. Simply go to www.ADRA.org/PartnerWithUs to make a monetary gift to support their relief efforts. The second way you can help is through prayer. This is something that we can all participate in. As a church, we care for the pain of others. In 1 Corinthians 12:26, Paul writes, “If one member suffers, all suffer together.” Hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions, will be impacted by this human and economic crisis. Let’s also remember and support the Ukrainian and Russian people in our communities who are worried about family members back home and experiencing incidents of prejudice. Columbia Union family, I appeal to you to pray for God’s intervention and peace. Dave Weigley, Columbia Union Conference president
