Today I am doing a distillery interview, interviewing Founder and Distiller Gordon Glanz from Odd Society Spirits*. We sat down to talk about Canadian Whisky and have a taste of *Smoke and Oak. Gordon shares with me the story behind the Smoke Series, the innovative use of Garryana Oak, and how they eluded the craft distilling policies in order to use this protected oak. It is really interesting and fun story! This Canadian Single Malt Whisky comes from the Odd Society, a small distiller here in British Columbia who prides themselves on combining old world distilling traditions with new world ingredients. This unique whisky uses Garryana Oak, the only oak native to British Columbia to impart the unique flavour of the Pacific Northwest. SUBSCRIBE: / @shortpours In this Canadian Single Malt Whisky review of Smoke and Oak I discuss the colour, nose, and of course the palette and finish. Importantly, I also touch on the interesting story behind how Odd Society navigated the strict craft distilling policies in order to use Garry Oak. ▻ My t8ke score: 7 ◅ Smoke and Oak is a spirit that is as bold and unique as the land from which it originates. This bottle is well above average, unique, and complex with a wonderful finish. Like what you see?
