UAE to Salalah and Yemen Border By Road trip with Mr Sajjad (Kerala Rain Forcaster ) Note that this route may requires a few hundred more kilometers than the classic Dubai-Salalah route as this one takes you to Salalah through the most scenic coastal route via Duqm. So, bear in mind that you have to fill gasoline full whenever you see a gas station (and fill and keep a 20L jerry can with you to avoid surprises on this relatively empty and remote road). Needless to say, also keep a lot of potable water and more than enough food (snacks, fruits, etc.). And at last but not least, drive in convoy (at least two cars together) if possible. Well, this is NOT a route to drive overnight as you will miss the amazing views of the coastal side. So, if you're planning to leave Dubai in the evening and pass the Mazyad border at the night (expect hours of waiting at both the UAE and Oman border posts during long weekends, esp in Kharif season), drive to Shannah port (only if you are visiting Masirah Island next morning) or Duqm (if you have no plan for Masirah) and camp there.
