A turn on the forehand is the horse turning himself around his front legs by using only his inside hind leg, only ONE STEP AT A TIME. The turn on the forehand’s purpose is to isolate a one-sided leg aid. In this case that is the right leg. It is from a full halt on an engaged/on the bit horse. The rider’s inside leg informs the horse’s inside hind leg to carry and move One step at a time. It is not a leg yield; weight is upon the hindquarters. The inside hind does not only travel sidewards, it is load bearing and moves the entire hindquarters step by step.
