Today on our 2104 Ford F150 we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2. This is a proportional brake controller that works great on up to 4 axles. Part number on it is 90885. We'll also be using the Tekonsha Plugin Brake Controller Adapter, part number 22292. A great thing about the P2 is going to be how it constantly monitors the connection between our truck and our trailer. If our 7 pole we're to become unplugged, or we we're to have some kind of wiring short, you can see it's going to flash, "nc, nc." That's going to indicate to us that we're not connected. Once we get that connection put back in place it's going to go back to "c" indicating that we've got a proper connection and our brakes are going to work on our trailer. You can see the conveniently located manual override lever here. This allows us to put braking power to our trailer without us actually having to hit the brakes on our truck. It'll allow us to dial in our gain here, within the tenth of a digit, to send the proper braking force to our trailer, that way we won't have to worry about the brakes on our trailer locking up. The P2 is a completely proportional brake controller. There's a sensor inside of it that when we hit the brakes in the truck it picks up on that, and it's going to send the appropriate amount of braking power back to our trailer. If we're doing a nice easy stop it's going to send a light amount of braking power. If we have a more aggressive, or maybe an emergency stop, it's going to send the maximum amount back there as quickly as possible. The P2 has 3 different boost levels to choose from. This is going to set how quickly and how aggressively our brakes our brakes are being applied on our trailer. With no boost, that's for use with really lightweight or empty trailers. As we increase our boost level up that's going to be for those bigger and bigger trailers. You can see the P2 has a really nice LED screen. It's nice and bright. It's going to tell us exactly what's going on with our trailer, and the cool blue color doesn't stand out so much as what a red would or something like that. This being a proportional brake controller we're going to be able to mount this in a 360 degree orientation, so even with the dash being real steep here we can mount it here without any issue. We want to just be sure that it's in line with the direction of travel, or that the center of it is facing the way the truck's going to be moving. Our brake controller is going to have safeguards built right in. It's going to protect against any shorts that might do harm to our brake controlled, or the breakaway system on our trailer. During prolonged stops it's going to slowly reduce the amount braking power being sent to the trailer in the rear so we don't have to worry about overheating the system. When not in use the P2 has a very minimal power draw so we won't have to worry about battery run down. Now, depending on how your truck's come from the factory it's going to change the install process a little bit here. If we have a factory 4 pole, which looks just like this, we're going to need to use the parts kit, ETBC7. That's our Electronic Brakes Controller Wiring kit. If you have a 7 pole, which is going to be a larger round plug here from the factory, you can skip up through the video until the time that we've got listed right here at the bottom. To begin our installation of the ETBC7, we want to just pry down on that 4 pole. Let's get it separated. You can see that's hiding right there. A little dirty. We'll clean that up. Just let that hang back here. Here you can see we're going to have a our 4 pole connector, and our 7 pole connector. With the ETBC7 kit we're going to have where our 4 pole connector's going to plug in the back. That's going to provide our lighting to both sides. We're going to have a ground wire. We're just going to connect that to a ground underneath our vehicle. The black wire is going to provide 12V power to our plug, so if we have any accessories that
