Whenever someone is asked to define an 'asymptote', they begin their response with the words, "it's a line...." In this short investigation, we will uncover a stunning fact that asymptotic behaviour need not be limited to the usual horizontal and vertical lines. And, where there are no horizontal asymptotes, there may well be a 'slant/oblique' asymptote or even a 'non-linear' asymptote. The exploration will help you see a pattern - but, my hope is that your understanding of what an asymptote is, will deepen. This video also lays out a procedure of how to structure, question, and follow an investigative path, using technology, which could help you in your IA.
