This is a tutorial about how to create a testnet validator on the Prater network, and then delegate the validator you've created to 4 SSV operators to participate in the SSV incentivized testnet the Blox Staking team is going to run from the end of October 2021 through the end of the year. In this video I demonstrate the process using a Mac, which should work essentially the same as other UNIX based systems like Linux with a GUI. I will be using the Brave Browser (FireFox, and Chrome are just as acceptable) with the latest version of the official MetaMask browser extension installed. Other web3 wallets are compatible but MetaMask is the most popular wallet of its kind and the one I will be using for this tutorial. (Optional donations can be sent to vnv.eth) https://ssv.network/ https://prater.launchpad.ethereum.org... / ssv-incentivized-testnet-october-2021 This tutorial does require some prerequisites aside from just a compatible browser and web3 wallet. You will need 32GöETH and a little more to pay for tx fees, 32.1GöETH is the most you would need to setup one validator on SSV Prater. There are several ways to obtain these testnet ETH coins. First is using the authenticated Faucet found here https://faucet.goerli.mudit.blog/ using it requires a Twitter account (which cannot be brand new or unused). Then use it to simply publicly tweet an unused ETH address (for Privacy) from your MetaMask wallet and then copy a direct link to the tweet to the faucet page and select 37.5/9 Days. If it succeeded the page should then show a status bar below where you pasted the link to your tweet and will tell you when it has been funded. This starts a 9 day timer for both the Twitter account used, and the ETH address used. You cannot use this faucet again with the same Twitter account or same ETH address until the 9 days have elapsed. Second is to create a support ticket on Blox Staking's discord server, and it will open a private channel between you and an admin. Paste your address in here and when an admin gets to your ticket they will send you the funds, and share a tx hash via the ticket. Please close the ticket as soon as you've received the funds. Finally you can use the Ethstaker Discord GöETH bot. This bot does not give you any funds directly but instead funds the 32 GöETH deposit for you. There are some extra, more technical but still quite simple steps you need to take in order to make this work. Also the channel with the bot only allows you to post your request once every 6 hours. The instructions to get funds from their bot can be found on their Discord. I can make a video for that process upon request if the info from the Ethstaker discord isn't clear enough for less technical users. Most Importantly, I skip a LOT of the important steps to be sure you do everything securely such as reading all the writing throughout the web workflows, writing mnemonics on paper offline instead of just pasting it to a plaintext document as I did in the tutorial, and using an airgapped computer that isn't connected to the internet to create your mnemonic, and derive from that the deposit data and keystore files. Then upload the keystore on a separate computer that is connected to the internet. Cryptocurrency Donations of many different coins and tokens can be sent to vnv.eth
