Geschlagene 25 Jahre hat es gedauert – jetzt ist es geschafft. In diesem Jahr geht das Album THE LONG RUN mit selbst geschriebenen Songs über ein gelebtes Leben an den Start. Seit dem Jahr 2000 wurde immer wieder an neuen Songs gearbeitet und Videos zu dem Material gedreht. Zumindest entstand dort konsequent Filmmaterial, welches mit anderen Jobs im In- und Ausland verbunden werden konnte. Aus heutiger Sicht ein Glücksfall. „Mehrere Male hatte ich fast ein komplettes Album fertig, fand es aber nie so gelungen. Das lag sicher nicht an den wunderbaren Musikerkollegen, die mich in vielen Studiosessions unterstützt hatten, sondern an einer intensiven Suche nach meiner eigenen Mitte.“, sagt er selbst über das Langzeitprojekt. „Ich wusste einfach nicht mehr, was stilistisch zu mir passt und wieviel ich von meiner persönlichen Geschichte in den Texten preisgeben wollte.“ Ein Treffen mit Matthias „Maze“ Meusel änderte die On-Off-Begeisterung zum musikalischen Material grundlegend. MAZE lud Dirk auf eine lange anstrengende Reise ein und produzierte geschmackvoll und authentisch das Albummaterial. Jetzt wird es treffend unter dem Titel THE LONG RUN Song für Song erscheinen. „Diese Produktion hat mich wieder zu einem Musikarbeiter gemacht und was das Wichtigste ist – mit vielen der vorher geschriebenen Songs versöhnt. "Several times I had almost completed a full album but never found it satisfactory. This was certainly not due to the wonderful musician colleagues who supported me in many studio sessions but because of an intensive search for my own center," he says about the long-term project. "I simply no longer knew what stylistically suited me and how much of my personal history I wanted to reveal in the lyrics." MAZE invited Dirk on a long, strenuous journey and tastefully and authentically produced the album material. Now, aptly titled THE LONG RUN, it will be released song by song. "This production has made me a music worker again and, most importantly, reconciled me with many of the previously written songs.
