I could “Get Lost” in writing about what He’s meant to the culture and his many accomplishments, but I’ll leave that to you. Do your research because “You Must Learn!” (True fans will see what I did there). Needless to say, I’m a fan of his career and journey. Me and wifey even kicked it with him and the homies from the Temple of HipHop Temple of Hip Hop ‪@TheTempleofHipHop1996‬ at a spot in Oak Town. He dapped me up, personally tagged my shirt, shared a word, caught a flick, and then tore the place down. Sorry, let me rephrase that. Eh Em... My Wife even surprised me once with a "meet-n-greet" at a show he was doing at Yoshi's, an Oakland establishment for great cuisine and live entertainment ‪@yoshisjazzclub‬ Instead of making us line up to meet him one by one, he brought us together into a cipher, all of us in a circle or huddle if you will. He noticed my 6 foot 3 inch, big man frame wearing a white T-shirt adorned with his first album cover (Criminal Minded) printed on it. His words, if I remember them correctly, were "Yoooo, that's DOPE! Somebody get me a Mag (a big ass Sharpie marker), I wanna tag it!", which meant sign it and of course in a Graffiti manner, one of the pillars of HipHop. It was a moment I'll never forget, and I still have the shirt and pictures. Thank you, Wife! On my latest passion project, you’ll hear His lyrics to “Hold”, a deep cut off of his self-titled album, KRS-ONE (1995). His voice always cuts through a beat and the original song had a vibe of its own, but since 1995 I've wondered what his voice and the beats in my head would sound like out loud. That moment is hear.
