The Mew encounter seems to normally occur after defeating every bonus stage at least twice. After that, if you are in the Indigo Plateau area it has a 2% change of appearing in Catch 'Em mode like any other pokémon. Mew's full pokédex data is always recorded, regardless of if Mew was successfully captured or if you run out of time during the encounter. It takes 1024 hits to capture Mew. This is because when Mew appears, the game flags a different address (D5C5) to store the number of times you have hit Mew. Luckily, this address appears to be the one directly adjacent to the normal "hits" address. Since the largest number that can be stored in a single address is 255, after the 256th hit, the "Mew hits" address will overflow into the normal "hits" address, counting as a single hit. Do this 4 times, and you'll successfully capture Mew. The two GameShark codes I used are: 1) Infinite timers - 01607AD5 2) Next Pokémon encounter is Mew - 019679D5 From my testing, the hacked Mew encounter performs identically to finding Mew legitimately, and these cheats are only for ease with TAS. Even with the incredibly fast hits shown, the amount of time it takes to reach 1024 hits is much longer than the 2 minutes the game allows. However, this still does not mean a truly legitimate capture would be impossible with some glitches or clever game manipulation unknown to me.
