R/C Unlimiteds Rose Cup at Portland Oregon USA 1987 with The "Czar" Roger Newton, Troy McIntyre, Don Mock and others. This was my first trip to a RCU meeting. Tracy Moran and I came from NZ to view and compare the RC boats with what we were running in NZ. We first stayed with Bob Williams, founder of the Hydroplane Museum then later with The "Czar" Roger Newton whom both I had been corresponding with over the previous three years. It was an honour to meet both these two wonderful men whom had a great passion for Hydroplanes both big and small. Roger and Bob had just arrived back from the Smithsonian Museum with the Blue Blaster, Bill Muncies Atlas Van Lines presently been restored by Don mock at the Hydroplane Museum. My friendship with the Newton's continues to this day with David "Mini Czar" and his wife Rachael Newton.
