Throughout this first episode of SmackDown Live, there were a number of developments and matches that have already started to shape the WWE landscape. He hyped a few matches for the night and proclaimed his usual confidence before heading to the back. Match 1: Tye Dillinger defeated Rusev (with Aiden English) Segment 2: John Cena came out to the ring to address the SmackDown Live roster. He might have a lot of miles on him, but the 16-time world champion promises to deliver in the near future. Who could his target be? Match 2: SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions The Usos defeated The Hype Bros Match 3: Kofi Kingston (with Big E and Xavier Woods) defeated Kevin Owens (with Sami Zayn) Segment 3: Chris Jericho called out United States Champion Baron Corbin. The Lone Wolf answered the call, but these two didn't come to blows on this night. Still, this is an interesting storyline that has the potential to develop into a compelling rivalry. Match 4: Becky Lynch defeated Carmella (with James Ellsworth) Match 5: Jinder Mahal (with the Singh Brothers) defeated Shinsuke Nakamura Main Event: Bobby Roode defeated Dolph Ziggler & Randy Orton in a triple threat match to become number one contender for the WWE Championship. As a result, next week Roode will have an in-ring segment with WWE Champion AJ Styles.
