The Zero had ruled the Pacific skies early in WWII — light, agile, deadly. But by 1944, the Hellcat was tougher, faster, better armored, and flown by well-trained U.S. Navy pilots. The result was one of the most one-sided dogfights of the war. Kill ratio: 15 to 1. This is the moment the Zero stopped being feared — and the Hellcat became king of the Pacific sky.
