"Désert is the first piece for bass and percussion composed by François Rabbath for his first solo recording, 'The Sound of the Bass' (1963). [This recording was called 'Bass Ball' in the US.] The novelist Auguste Le Breton chose this piece as the theme song for the radio adaptation of his popular novel 'Rififi.'" - Hans Sturm, from "75 Years on 4 Strings: The Life and Music of François Rabbath." This was the first piece François and I worked on together when I met him in Paris!
