At this point, you will launch the new virtual machine wizard. Step 3: Open the Name and Operating System window. Then, type WindowsMe in the Name field. Also, check the Type & Version values. If you want to save the VM somewhere else, pick the external HDD or SSD location in the Folder field. Step 4: Open the Memory Size window. Then, think about how much RAM your computer has. Set a good RAM value for the WindowsMe virtual machine. By default, the most RAM WinMe can use is 512 MB. But you can also pick 1 GB to make it run faster. Step 5: Open the Hard Disk window. Then, create a new disk for the WindowsMillennium virtual computer. By default, the "Create virtual hard disk" option is selected. So, click Next. If you already have a guest machine, you can add the existing virtual disk file. To do this, use the "Add an existing virtual HDD" feature. Step 6: Select the VDI disk in the HDD File Type window. Then, select the new location on your computer. I set the size of the Windows Millennium virtual disk to 4 GB. In short, this gives enough storage. Step 8: After creating the Windows ME VM, click Settings. Then, add the Windows ISO setup media to it. Step 9: VirtualBox does not support Guest Additions for Windows 9x versions. So, you cannot use your computer hardware in the virtual machine. Also, you cannot use features like Shared Clipboard and Drag and Drop. Because of this, some features are not available. Step 10: Open the System/Motherboard window. Then, set the primary boot device to Optical. Also, turn off the Floppy device in order to you will make the boot process faster. Step 11: If you want to set up multiple processors for the WinMe virtual computer, first turn on I/O APIC in Motherboard settings. Then, set the number of virtual CPUs. This will make it run better. Step 12: Since Guest Additions cannot be installed, you don't need to turn on 3D graphics acceleration in Display/Screen settings. But, since you will install the display adapter driver manually, turn it on anyway. This will make it run better. Step 13: In the storage settings, check the I/O Cache setting of the IDE controller. Then, configure the WindowsMe.vdi virtual disk file as SSD. Then, click Empty and then click the DVD icon. Then, you can add the Windows ISO file to the VM. Step 14: After setting up the Windows Millennium virtual OS, click Start. Then, begin the installation & watch the full video to install drivers for display and USB 2.0 devices. Note: When you turn off the WinME, you might have sound problems.
