Tennessee Highway Patrol & ICE face claims of racially profiling drivers

Racial profiling or targeted enforcement? We went through 50+ hours of newly obtained footage made possible by the Tenn. Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition, where immigration attorneys say Tenn. Highway Patrol & ICE racially profiled dozens of drivers. More than 100 arrests were made in what ICE now says were all part of a targeted enforcement operation. What we saw in the footage, however, was THP pulling drivers over for minor traffic violations and asking anyone they could for proof of legal status. ICE agents can be heard on camera appearing to brag about the number of arrests they made and, at times, even physically marking those detained to keep count. Much of the footage was redacted and, in some cases, muted by troopers, which calls into question the transparency of this operation.
