Pipefreezer Victoria recently undertook a major cryogenic isolation project at 35 Collins Street Melbourne Australia. The project consisted of 4 x 300mm freezes on the CHW HVAC system within the riser and was completed in two stages. The freezes were held in place for up to 15 hours on stage 1 and 12 hours on stage 2, this allowed the primary HVAC contractor Ellis Airconditioning the appropriate amount of time to drain the section of pipe between the freezes, cut and weld new flanges and install new branch lines between the freezes which will service a brand new plant room on the 18th floor of the building. Our solution allows for the the least amount of impact to system up-time, by holding the water in the building, we not only saved hundreds of thousands of litres of treated water, but we saved the buiding management company and the HVAC contractor weeks if not months of bleeding air from the system which saves countless hours of chasing air and balancing the system.
