—私から、愛しい家族へ。— From me, to my beloved family. (Ushiromiya Natsuhi image song) Romaji & English translation in CC -Credits- Umineko Gikyoku Volume 8 (2018) pomexgranate. Music: xaki Vocal: zakuro Lyrics: 隆鬼 English translation: dablations ( https://dablations.dreamwidth.org/ ) Romaji transcription: Tiger Video: Diesel Project coordinator: http://ushiromiya.mom/ -Translator's notes- 1. [Though its usage is more general here, the specific word used here for "to cast (something) away", or "to part with (something)" is 「手放す」, which can also have the connotation of sending away a child. Perhaps intentional.] 2. [The verb 「守る」 can mean, and is often taken to mean, "to protect". However, it can also mean "to obey (rules)" or "to keep a promise". Again, likely intentional.] 3. [The subject here is unclear, I think: Natsuhi could be singing about either Beatrice or herself having wings able to flap.] 4. [This sentence is incomplete in Japanese. The "witchcraft of love", as referenced in the text, is marked with を, and is therefore intended to be the object of the sentence, but there is no corresponding verb. She seems to be addressing Beatrice about this witchcraft, but as for what she intends to do to it? Uncertain.] -Editor's notes- This song is very poetic in construction and tone. It's a lot of fun to try and convey that in English. "Witchcraft" was used over "magic" because it seemed to fit the tone of the piece, but it's the same word in Japanese. Natsuhi just seems like a person who would write "witchcraft", huh? Anyway, I'll be posting all the Gikyoku songs like this, so please look forwards to it! -Ciel
