He also explains the factors that led to his decision to attend Texas A&M over the local HBCU's. He explains that despite some of the backlash he's received over his decision, he's a proud alum and his choice was heavily influenced by his financial situation at the time, because his parents spent less than $1,000 combined between him and his two siblings while they were in college. He also breaks down the demographics at PWIs and HBCUs. Roland Martin also details pledging Alpha Phi Alpha, the oldest historically African American fraternity. During the discussion, Martin condemns hazing and says it's not the right way to mold young fraternity members.
