Every one of your personal problems can be solved. It always disturbed me that these highly revered writers and authors such as Hemingway, Virginia Wolf, and Sylvia Plath had personal and emotional problems so massive, they couldn't solve them. This was almost romanticized... as if there was something glorious about not being able to solve the problems of your own life. As a 19-year-old in college, deep down I rejected the "anguished writer" paradigm and sought healthier alternatives... Such as working daily to put yourself into an optimal mental state. The entire college curriculum was almost pushing opposite ideas onto students... "Life is tragic, writing is tragic, everything is depressing; just weep about it and be broke/broken." I eventually gravitated to business writing, where people can express themselves AND write in a way that motivates, educates, and inspires their audience... WHILE solving real, tangible problems. I'm convinced that going into business, giving it your all, solving others' problems, and writing your heart out is what heals one's soul.
