Fire breaks out at Battersea block of flats in London (UK) 11/Sep/2025

About 100 firefighters have tackled a fire at a block of flats in Battersea, south-west London. A "significant amount of the building and the roof" of the five-storey residential building on Maysoule Road were destroyed in the blaze, London Brigade (LFB) said. Fire crews were mobilised shortly after 19:00 BST and brought the fire under control at 23:01, it added. About 150 people were evacuated by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus, while firefighters used a large turntable ladder as a water tower to help tackle the flames from above. Three people were treated by paramedics at the scene. The London Ambulance Service (LAS) said it was called to the block, near the junction of Hope Street and Benham Close, shortly before 19:30 BST. An LAS spokesperson said and ambulance crews, an incident response officer and members of its Hazardous Area Response Team attended the fire. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
