This is a six part series of my ten (10) day solo backcountry adventure in Alaska’s remote and untamed Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve. I backpacked sixty (60) miles from the Bremner Historic Mining District (https://www.nps.gov/places/bremner.htm) to Tebay Lakes. There are no trails, and this involved extreme bushwhacking (pathfinding), stream crossings, a glacier crossing, rock scrambling, traversing mountain passes and valleys, and my least favorite - getting stuck for hours in endless patches of bushes as tall as me. The scenery was incredible - flowing and hanging glaciers, massive mountains, rockslides, streams, rivers, waterfalls, cliffs, and all sorts of unique landscapes you’ll have to see to believe and love! Part 4 - Day 5 This is a full day of stream crossing after stream crossing before scrambling up more glacial moraine, through a mountain pass and down along a small glacier. I’d planned on camping in the pass, but as there were no spots to put a tent and I was running out of daylight, I sped down the pass, bloodying up my hand and knee thinking it would be a good idea sliding down a hill of sand and rocks. The joy of setting up tent in the dark! #alaska #backcountry #backpacking #bushwhack #glacier #wrangellstelias
