Multiplying by one doesn’t usually do much - but in this problem from an old Olympiad paper collapses a huge product of sums of powers into a simple difference of two powers. This is a super useful technique that can be extended much further than just this example - play around with it and see if you can come up with your own version - there are many other numbers with their own properties.
