Working towards a Fallow Deer Strategy for the Southern Gulf Islands Webinar

Fallow deer are not native to the Trust Area. They were brought to Mayne Island via a fallow deer farm that operated in the 1980s and 1990s and have since spread to other Southern Gulf Islands. This webinar explores the devastating impact fallow deer are having on the 500 native plant species that live on Mayne Island, as well as on residents’ ability to grow food on the island. Presenters shared their insights on what a long-term fallow deer management strategy could look like for the Southern Gulf Islands.
