Days Gone is a Sony Play Station game ported over to PC and released May 17th 2021. Currently for a lot of people the game crashes during startup. For me it was crashing just after the first intro screen as seen in the video. Then once I got the game to actually start the game had no sound. You can take a look at my second video that shows the game from point of install, crashing and then fixed and working... Covers White Listing (in Norton) and the startup settings to make the game start as well as the same USB sound fix shown here. • Days Gone FIX for crash on start and no so... I was able to get the crashing fixed by doing a bunch of different steps. 1. Updated Nvidia to the new driver released today (May 18th 2021), same crash issue still happened. 2. I validated my MB Bios, Sound drivers, Sound firmware and headset firmware (all were already using the most resent versions) Now I started different things I found by searching the internet for fixes. 1. Turn off Steam Overlay 2. Turn off GeForce overlay 3. White list the game in antivirus / windows defender 4. Unplug internet cable 5. Force game to start in Windowed mode, added startup options in Steam (-windowed -noborder) Doing all the above the game finally started BUT now it had no sound. I tried unplugging my USB headset while in game and no sound in my speakers. I then started the game with my speakers (no USB headset plugged in) and I had sound. I will note, when sound worked the game also has subtitles showing but when I had my USB headset with no sound it also had no subtitles. So to me the game was not even loading sound files because if it was the subtitles would have shown. I should also point out that the video has some static in the sound and that only happens after using for this game and until restart. I will say that after the first time it started, I was then able to remove startup options forcing the game to run in windowed mode, turn on GeForce Overlay and plug in my internet cable and the game still starts kind of. I say kind of because if I restart my PC, on first try to run the game it crashes at the same intro screen BUT if I just try to start it a second time it works and continues to work until I reboot my PC. I was able to get my USB headset working by starting the game and going into my char with only my speakers hooked up. Once I had sound in game I plugged in my USB headset and they worked. I need to do this every time I start if I want my headset to work. Overall I hope this helps some get it working. The other reason for this post is people on Steam saying the people with issues are just Play Station fans trying to make the game look bad. I do not even own a Play Station! My Specs ...
