Episode Five - Helping the Engine Be Safe Again

This video series follows the restoration of a flood damaged 2005 Lotus Elise by me, Dr. Steve Weinland. I'm a clinical psychologist and not a mechanic, but I love working on cars. Mind and Motors Garage is 99% Repair and 1% Psychology. I like to think the channel will maintain a small focus on "The Psychology of Repair". Each episode will have 30 to 90 seconds of tie ins from the world of clinical psychology to auto repair. It's not therapy, but hopefully everybody learns something, including me. In this episode I clean the cylinders as well as I can and push oil through the engine to get some of the gunk out. Just like when people go through traumatic things - it takes a while to get back on track - the same is true for this engine. So we'll work to get to restart slowly, together.
