Immunotherapy for Synovial Sarcoma

There has been a real breakthrough in treating patients with sarcoma, and a new FDA-approved treatment has been developed. It's an advanced-cell immunotherapy for patients with a particular type of sarcoma. Doctor Mihaela Druta, how does this therapy work? A patient with synovial sarcoma has an expression of a particular protein in their synovial sarcoma cancer cells called MAGEA4. Initially, we’re screening our patients for a specific type of blood, the subtype of their blood, and then as for this protein, if it’s expressed on their cancer cells, the patients will have their immune cells, which will be collected.
